CYBERSECURITY

Simple cybersecurity habits everyone should use

You don’t need to be a security expert. A handful of good habits can dramatically reduce everyday risk.

Use unique passwords

Use a password manager to create long, unique passwords for important accounts rather than reusing one password everywhere.

Turn on multi-factor authentication

Enable MFA wherever it is available, especially for email, banking, cloud storage and social accounts.

Slow down when a message feels urgent

Scammers often create urgency. If an email or text asks you to click a link, transfer money or reveal a code, stop and verify through an independent channel.

Keep devices updated

Install operating-system and app updates because they frequently contain security fixes as well as new features.

Remember: Never share a one-time authentication code with someone who contacts you unexpectedly.
